N. Korea pledges to strengthen ties with China

North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui and China's new ambassador to Pyongyang, Wang Yajun, met on Monday and affirmed their commitment to strengthening the ties between their two nations, Yonhap news agency reported, citing North Korean state media.

"They expressed a firm stance to further develop the traditional and friendly relations between the North and China by upholding noble intentions of the two nations' parties and heads of the state," according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

Wang arrived in North Korea in April to assume his role as Beijing's top envoy to Pyongyang, after being appointed to the position in February 2021.
