Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that the Palestinian people have the right to count on the creation of their own state since that was promised to them.

Speaking at a press conference following the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit in Bishkek, Putin acknowledged that Israel faced a "unprecedented" attack last weekend and pointed out it responded in a "quite brutal" way. He stressed that Israel and the rest of the world should keep in mind that not every Palestinian supports Hamas, which attacked Israel, and insisted that civilians should not suffer amid the fighting.

Furthermore, the Russian president noted he doesn't believe that Ukraine is supplying Hamas with weapons, but claimed there is "no doubt that weapons supplied to Ukraine go to black market."
