Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Diplomat Kim Song on Monday accused Washington of unfairly imposing "Western values" on sovereign states such as North Korea with the focus of inciting conflict on the Korean Peninsula with the aim of "toppling" the Pyongyang regime.

Speaking before the General Assembly in New York, Kim emphasized that the escalating hostility of the United States and its allies toward the DPRK is to blame for the Korean Peninsula being stuck in a "vicious cycle" of tensions and conflict.

Previously, North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un underlined that Pyongyang will never give up its nuclear weapons and its right to self-defense. Meanwhile, the White House assured that Washington holds no "hostile intent" towards North Korea despite being aware of reports Pyongyang is moving forward with its nuclear program.
