North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary General Mark Rutte on Wednesday congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the United States presidential elections, stressing that he looks forward "to working with him again to advance peace through strength through NATO."
In a statement, Rutte said that Trump "demonstrated strong US leadership throughout his first term in office – a term that turned the tide on European defense spending, improved transatlantic burden sharing, and strengthened Alliance capabilities."
Furthermore, the NATO chief emphasized that Washington has 31 allies "who help to advance US interests, multiply American power" amid an increasingly challenging geopolitical situation.
