The United States National Football League will postpone some of the upcoming games scheduled for this weekend over the spread of the Omicron variant, according to a report published by CNBC on Friday.
The sources revealed the move to the news outlet, claiming that more than 100 NFL players contracted COVID-19 over the last seven days. The National Hockey League already issued an announcement stating it has made the same decision to help curb the coronavirus pandemic.
"We have made these schedule changes based on medical advice and after discussion with the NFLPA as we are seeing a new, highly transmissible form of the virus this week resulting in a substantial increase in cases across the league," the NFL later said in an official statement.
