The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on Wednesday it concluded its preliminary investigation into General Motors' Cruise robotaxis without further action.

The investigation, launched in October 2023, examined reports of crashes and pedestrian safety concerns involving autonomous vehicles.

The probe followed incidents where Cruise vehicles failed to avoid pedestrians in San Francisco, including a high-profile October 2023 crash that led to California regulators revoking Cruise's driverless operations license.
