NTSB: Crashed plane black box has water intrusion

United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) member Todd Inman (pictured) stated that a black box belonging to the crashed American Airlines flight has been found to have "water intrusion," CNN reported.

Inman said this wasn't an uncommon occurrence, adding that they "deal with it all the time." Inman clarified that after being submerged in ionized water, which is a part of the recovery process, the box was put into a vacuum in order to remove all moisture. The next step involves checking for electric connections to see if a download is possible. He called this "one step of many steps" that they will take to retrieve the data, though he expressed high confidence that they would "have it."

Additionally, the second box, which contains flight data, was found to be in "good condition."
