New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Wednesday the state has decided to remove mask requirements on mass transit as the number of daily registered COVID-19 cases continued to decline.
Since the mass outbreak last January, the health situation has remained relatively stable in New York over the past months, with health authorities reporting several thousand new COVID-19 cases a day.
However, citizens will likely have to keep wearing protective masks while at healthcare facilities. The decision comes more than two years after former Governor Andrew Cuomo introduced the rule in April 2020.
