Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will be heading to Japan to greet those at the Group of Seven (G7) Summit in person, the Financial Times reported citing people briefed on the matter.

According to sources, during this unexpected and unannounced trip, the Ukrainian head of state wants to not only further harden Western support for his country, but also charm other non-G7 attendees, among which are Brazil and India.

Zelensky is expected to arrive in Hiroshima on Sunday. It was previously thought that he would be joining the discussions only via video link.
