Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Monday the decision to delay the judicial system overhaul amid the ongoing protests in the country against it.
Netanyahu stated during a televised address that the second and third votes on the reform will be delayed until after the Knesset's April recess honoring the Passover, or Pesach, to provide more time for "a real debate." Still, he insisted the modifications to the system are necessary. Netanyahu went on to blame the ongoing crisis on "an extremist minority ready to divide our nation and pledged he will "turn over every stone to find a solution."
Earlier in the day, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced in a statement published by his party Otzma Yehudit, the coalition partner of Netanyahu's Likud, that the prime minister agreed to postpone the examination of the judicial system.
