Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed on Monday that Hamas had the "same intention of the Nazi gangs who murdered a third of our people" when it struck Israel on October 7, but failed to achieve its goal because the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reacted.

Inca speech before the Knesset on Holocaust Remembrance Day, Netanyahu said the October 7th attack was "not a Holocaust" since "the scale of the carnage in the Holocaust is unimaginable. It is equal to 5,000 October sevenths."

Around 1,200 Israelis were killed in Hamas' attack in October, which led Israel to respond by launching an operation in Gaza, killing over 34,000 Palestinians over the past seven months.
