Russia: US contributes to increasing nuclear risks

EPA-EFE/SHAWN THEW

Russian Embassy in the United States said on Tuesday that Washington "continues to act without regard to the security and interests of other countries, which contributes to increasing nuclear risks." The two countries have heightened nuclear rhetoric lately amid attacks on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken saying Moscow has reached "the height of irresponsibility."

"American steps to further engage in a hybrid confrontation with Russia in the context of the Ukrainian crisis are fraught with unpredictable escalation and a direct military clash of nuclear powers," the embassy stated. It added that the US should "take a closer look at its own nuclear policy instead of making unfounded accusations against those countries whose views on the world order do not coincide" with its own.
