Netanyahu: Hamas starving hostages

EPA/SHAWN THEW

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement on Sunday that he spoke with Red Cross regional chief Julian Larison, requesting that hostages held by Hamas get food and medical care.

"Hamas's starvation lie is being spread around the world, but the reality is that systematic starvation is being carried out against our hostages — men and women who are undergoing severe and brutal physical and mental abuse," he remarked.

Talking about the latest hostage footage released by the militant group, Netanyahu underlined that "the world cannot remain indifferent to the shocking images that are reminiscent of Nazi crimes."
