Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisted on Tuesday that his country "still has to finish the job in Gaza," meaning to "release all our hostages" and "eliminate and destroy Hamas's military and governance capabilities."

Speaking to reporters after his meeting with US House Speaker Mike Johnson, Netanyahu stressed that "the coordination between our two countries, the coordination between an American president [Donald Trump] and an Israeli prime minister has been unmatched. It offers great promise for Israel, for America, for our region, for the world." He also insisted that "we are certainly working on" a ceasefire with Hamas.

Meanwhile, Johnson said that he and Netanyahu discussed "America's commitment to Israel's security and our shared goal of achieving a ceasefire agreement in Gaza that is righteous, enduring, and rooted in the principle of peace through strength."
