Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that the victory in the war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip "will take more long months."
"We are aiming for complete victory — not just to strike Hamas, not just to damage Hamas, not another round with Hamas," the prime minister emphasized during a press conference. He explained that a total victory means that Israel will have full security control over the Gaza Strip after the end of the war. In addition, he reiterated that Israel will "continue to fight" until it achieves all its war goals and releases all Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
Furthermore, Netanyahu noted that a ceasefire "will damage Israel's security for generations, it will create a message of weakness and the next massacre will only be a matter of time."
