The Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) Chair Aleid Wolfsen warned DeepSeek users to be "very careful and reserved" when using the new Chinese chatbot.
"Realize that you may also – intentionally or unintentionally – upload information about other people into that chatbot. If you upload data from other people, it will end up in the same place in China. Perhaps without the other person knowing about it, let alone agreeing to it. Such an unlawful transfer makes you liable," the watchdog added on Friday.
The agency further expressed apprehensions regarding the privacy policy associated with DeepSeek. Specialists have highlighted that data shared with the application is retained on servers located in China, raising the possibility that this information may be accessed by the Chinese government.
