New Zealand's Parliamentary Service informed the country's lawmakers on Friday that TikTok will be blocked on their work devices from March 31. The Service said the risks related to the app, owned by Chinese company ByteDance Ltd., are "not acceptable in the current New Zealand parliament environment."

"The decision to block the TikTok application has been made based on our own analysis and following discussion with our colleagues across government and internationally," the Service said. On Thursday, the United Kingdom also banned the app on government devices citing security concerns.
