Niger has accepted Algeria's initiative for a peaceful political settlement of the crisis in the country, the Algerian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday in a post on social media X, formerly known as Twitter.

According to the statement, the adoption of the initiative should strengthen the possibility of a peaceful solution to the crisis in Niger. It is also reported that the President of Algeria instructed its foreign minister to travel to the Nigerien capital to hold preparatory discussions with all stakeholders on the proposal's implementation.

Earlier in August, Algeria proposed a peace initiative to Niger. As Ria Novosti reported, this initiative involves strengthening the principle of illegitimacy of constitutional changes and the establishment of a transitional period of six months to achieve a political solution to guarantee the return of a constitutional and democratic system in Niger.
