No UNSC 'consensus' on full Palestinian UN membership

EPA-EFE/JUSTIN LANE

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) failed to reach a consensus on Thursday regarding the full UN membership of Palestinians, AFP reported.

Maltese Ambassador Vanessa Frazier, currently holding the council’s rotating presidency for April, stated that even though no consensus was reached, "the majority were very clearly in favor," with two-thirds of the members standing in support of full membership.

A vote could be held on April 18 according to sources cited by the news agency, brought forth by Algeria.
