Negotiation between French Prime Minister Elizabeth Borne and eight trade unions ended abruptly on Wednesday without a deal. Union representatives left the meeting after less than an hour, stating it was "pointless" as Borne vowed to press on with the unchanged text of the pension reform legislation.
The union leaders said their "alternative financing proposals were not taken seriously at all" and vowed not to return to the negotiating table "as if nothing had happened." They called on workers to join the protests, which have been going on for almost three months, and demand a "pure and simple withdrawal" of the legislation.
