No need to evacuate cities for now, says Ukranian PM

There is no need, for the time being, to evacuate Kiev or any other city that remains far from the front lines, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

"We must say that to announce the evacuation of any city not near the front lines, especially the capital, would not make any sense at present," Shmyhal stressed, explaining that the situation is currently far from that phase.

The prime minister's announcement comes after Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko told citizens to be ready for winter months with no electricity, heat, or water supply, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's Advisor Mykhailo Podolyak deemed the Russian terms for negotiations unacceptable.
