The Solomon Islands Meteorological Service confirmed that no tsunami warning will be issued after two earthquakes hit the island nation on Tuesday.
According to the statement, there is no tsunami threat to the country but unusual sea currents in coastal areas may still occur.
The United States Tsunami Warning System previously reported the possibility of hazardous waves striking the island after a powerful 7.0-magnitude quake struck 66 kilometers southwest of the town of Malango at 3:03 am local time, followed by another tremor measuring 6.0 half an hour later.
