World champion Noah Lyles won the 100-meter race at the Paris Olympics on Sunday, clinching his first-ever gold medal.
Lyles completed the sprint in 9.79784 seconds, outpacing Jamaican Kishane Thompson, who claimed the silver, and fellow American Fred Kerley, who took home the bronze. "America, I told you, I got next," Lyles declared after his victory.
The 27-year-old's win elevated the United States' gold medal tally to 19.
