Sweden, Norway and Denmark will jointly provide Ukraine with military support worth $500 million, Stockholm announced on Tuesday. Sweden will be responsible for half of the package, $250 million, while the rest will be covered by Norway and Denmark.
The donation includes air defense systems, ammunition, anti-tank weapons, spare parts, and components for the US-made Patriot missile system.
Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson said the aid reflects growing urgency to help Ukraine resist Russia's invasion. "We welcome the United States' decision to provide defence materiel to Ukraine, including the Patriot air defence system, and that NATO is coordinating the assistance. Ukraine urgently needs the support of Allies and partners to defend itself against Russia’s aggression," Jonson stated.
