South Korea's defense authorities reported on Monday that about 130 artillery shells were fired toward eastern and western zones by North Korea. The announcement added that this was a violation of the bilateral military agreement reached in 2018 as it was aimed toward a maritime "buffer zone."
The firings, which were first spotted from Kumgang County in Kangwon Province and Jangsan Cape in South Hwanghae Province, are believed to involve multiple rocket launchers.
The announcement comes following today's news that Seoul is considering tightening sanctions against Pyongyang if it conducts another nuclear test or other major provocations.
