Novak Djokovic won the men's US Open final against Juan Martin Del Potro. The Serbian tennis player won 3:0 (6-3, 7-6, 6-3) to secure his third title in the New York grand slam tournament. This is the first time for Djokovic to win in Flushing Meadows since 2015, as he lost to Stan Wawrinka in 2016 and he missed the tournament in 2017 due to an elbow injury.

Djokovic is now tied with Pete Sampras in the third place on the list of all-time Grand Slam singles titles with 14 titles, behind Roger Federer with 20 and Rafael Nadal with 17.

The women's US Open ended yesterday with Naomi Osaka defeating Serena Williams 6-2, 6-4 in the final. Osaka became the first Japanese to win a Grand Slam.
