UK consumer confidence slightly improves in December

Consumer confidence in the United Kingdom was slightly higher in December compared to November, GfK said in a release on Friday. The Consumer Confidence indicator improved by two points in November to a negative 42, the highest reading since July.

"The outlook for our personal financial situation over the next 12 months - perhaps the key metric as we enter a new year – is stuck at -29, and concerns about our economic future remain acute," GfK Client Strategy Director Joe Staton said. "With scant seasonal joy at present and no immediate prospect of fiscal good news, it is unlikely we will see a rebound in confidence anytime soon."
