Official: GM, Foxconn to swap imports to Mexico for local production

General Motors Company and Foxconn Technology Group intend to announce their plans to substitute imports to Mexico for local production, Vidal Llerenas, Mexican deputy economy minister, said.

The new Mexican government is also engaged in discussions with other major companies such as DHL and Stellantis N.V. to explore which of their products could be manufactured in Mexico, according to Llerenas.

The official also revealed that Intel Corporation has already pledged to replace 12% of imports of some parts.
