Oil prices jumped on Wednesday afternoon following a report from the U.S. Energy Information Agency (EIA) that showed oil inventories continued to decline.
WTI oil for November delivery rose 1.28% to $49.89 per barrel (5:10 p.m. CET), continuing an upward price trend for the sixth day in a row. Brent for December delivery gained 1.32% to $51.98 per barrel (5:13 p.m. CET), also continuing to rise for the sixth consecutive day.
U.S. oil inventories decreased by 3.0 million barrels in the week ending September 30 to 499.7 million barrels, EIA reported on Wednesday. American Petroleum Institute said yesterday U.S. inventories saw a drop of 7.6 million barrels.
