Olympics PREVIEW: Day 7 – 23 gold medals on offer

The seventh day of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games guarantees an exciting lineup of sports, featuring 23 medal events. Today, the men's soccer tournament enters the quarterfinal stage. The upcoming matches will see Morocco facing off against the US, Japan taking on Spain, Egypt challenging Paraguay, and France going head-to-head with Argentina.

In the swimming pool, Caeleb Dressel aims to retain his Olympic title in the 50-meter freestyle event. Meanwhile, Smith and Bacon, from the US, will be vying for a podium finish in the women's 200-meter backstroke. Additionally, French swimmer Leon Marchand has his sights set on adding a fourth gold medal to his collection in the men's 200-meter individual medley final. Another highlight of the day is the men's 10,000-meter track and field final, where Ugandan athlete Joshua Cheptegei aims to surpass his silver medal performance from Tokyo 2020.

In Judo, local Teddy Riner is determined to secure his third Olympic gold in the +100 kg category. Having already triumphed in London 2012 and Rio 2016, Riner also boasts previous bronze medals from Beijing and Tokyo. Furthermore, there will be additional medal events in rowing, equestrian, BMX racing, golf, shooting, diving, tennis, archery, cycling, trampoline, beach volleyball and basketball.
