One person has been killed and three injured in a shooting that took place in several locations in Washington D.C., the United States Metropolitan Police Department stated on Wednesday.
The gunmen first shot a person on a Metrobus line, before continuing to the nearby subway station where he again opened fire, injuring two others and killing a metro employee who tried to intervene. "His heroism has to be recognized here today," MPD Assistant Chief Ashan Benedict stated, adding that he finds the fact that citizens had to step in "disturbing."
Officers apprehended the suspect on the Potomac Avenue Metro Station train platform but no motive for the attack has been disclosed.
