US Department of Justice (DoJ) lawyers are currently in the initial stages of drafting a potential antitrust lawsuit against Apple, Politico reported on Friday, citing a person familiar with the matter.

According to the report, a long-term probe may be approaching a decision point, and a lawsuit could be forthcoming soon. The person said multiple groups of prosecutors inside the department are assembling the pieces for a possible case, adding that the antitrust division expects to file the lawsuit by the end of the year.

The DoJ declined to comment. Apple did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
