OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hailed the $500 billion joint artificial intelligence (AI) Stargate project as the "most important project of this era" and thanked United States President Donald Trump for making it possible.
On AI, Altman said that "as this technology progresses, we will see diseases [like cancer] cured at an unprecedented rate." Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison pointed to the "incredible promise" of AI for every American. "Data centers are under construction in Texas, there are 10 buildings currently being built, but that will expand into 20," he revealed. "Imagine, early cancer detection, the development of a cancer vaccine aimed at you, and to have that vaccine available in 48 hours," Ellison stated, adding that the project is also tied to digital health records. "This is the promise of AI," he declared.
His remarks were followed by those of SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son. "We would immediately start deploying $100 billion, with the goal of making $500 billion within the next four years," he said, adding that artificial general intelligence (AGI) is coming "very soon" and will be followed by artificial super intelligence (ASI).
