SoftBank Group Corp. and OpenAI plan to commit $19 billion each to Stargate, the artificial intelligence (AI) endeavor that was unveiled by United States President Donald Trump earlier this week, the Information reported.

This would supposedly see both companies owning 40% of the project, the news agency said, citing comments made by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to colleagues.

On Tuesday, Trump, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, Larry Ellison, executive chairman of Oracle, and Altman revealed the joint $500 billion project, with Altman dubbing it "the most important project of this era."
