OpenAI is considering changing the terms of the relationship with its biggest investor, Microsoft Corp., the Financial Times reported on Friday. According to the current agreement, Microsoft would not have access to OpenAI's artificial general intelligence (AGI), if and when the company achieves it. AGI is a level of artificial intelligence that surpasses humans in a wide range of cognitive tasks.
The report claims OpenAI is thinking about broadening the scope of the contract with Microsoft, allowing it to invest more in the company even after AGI is achieved. OpenAI is also allegedly holding discussions with Microsoft and other investors on the issue. Sources familiar with the matter said no decisions have been made so far.
