OpenAI partners with Axel Springer to boost news

OpenAI has partnered with Axel Springer, the parent company of various media outlets, to "open up new ways for people to access high-quality, up-to-the-minute news content through our artificial intelligence (AI) tools," the companies announced on Wednesday.

Under the agreement, ChatGPT will gain access to content from Axel Springer publishers, which includes German outlets such as Bild and Welt, as well as American publications like Politico and Business Insider. In return, Axel Springer will be compensated for the utilization of its content in AI tools.

"We are pleased to have advanced this global partnership between Axel Springer and OpenAI – the first of its kind. We will explore the possibilities of AI-empowered journalism – to take quality, social relevance and the business model for journalism to the next level," Axel Springer CEO Mathias Dopfner noted.
