OpenAI is preparing to launch its latest and most advanced AI assistant model, GPT-5 in August, The Verge reported on Thursday, citing sources familiar with the company's plans.
The latest version could appear as early as the beginning of next month, but the company has not yet provided a comment. Previously, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed that GPT-5 was coming soon without providing an exact date of the release.
It is being speculated that ChatGPT-5 will come with a unified model system, eliminating the need for users to manually pick a reasoning mode, which will be automatically determined based on their inquiry. Another notable upgrade may include persistent memory, enabling the AI assistant to recall user-specific data across sessions.
