OpenAI reported on Tuesday that its users were experiencing issues across ChatGPT, video creation platform Sora, and the company's application programming interface (API). The company stated that the issues were related to "elevated error rates and latency" across the services, and noted that it was investigating the issue.
A large increase in reports was also registered by the website Downdetector, with more than 1,400 complaints logged in the United Kingdom and over 1,100 reported in the United States. Some of the error messages included "error in message stream" and "something went wrong while generating a response."
