Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban vowed on Tuesday that he will work together with the Alternative for Germany (AfD) "in the upcoming years" on issues such as immigration and competitiveness, in order to "make Europe great again."
Orban posted his comments on X after meeting with AfD co-chairwoman Alice Weidel in Budapest. "Europe is facing huge challenges. The lack of economic competitiveness, illegal migration, and war in our immediate neighbourhood are all symptoms of our decline," Orban wrote.
The AfD won 152 seats in the German parliament after the federal election held earlier this year, while also coming second in the popular vote behind the ruling CDU/CSU.
