The European Commission announced on Wednesday that more than 100 companies, including Amazon, Google, Samsung and Microsoft, have signed the European Union artificial intelligence (AI) Pact that calls on the firms to commit to "three core actions," which include AI governance strategy to promote AI adoption in the organization, identification of high-risk AI systems, and improvement of AI literacy and awareness among employees.
The Commission further said that "more than half of the signatories" made additional commitments, such as securing human oversight, mitigating risks, and clearly labeling specific types of AI-generated content, such as deepfakes.
"The AI Factories will also propel the development and validation of AI industrial and scientific applications in key European sectors such as healthcare, energy, automotive and transport, defense and aerospace, robotics and manufacturing, clean and agritech," the Commission said in a statement.
