At least 151 people have been injured in Istanbul, many after jumping from high places in panic following a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that struck the metropolis of 16 million, the city's governor’s office confirmed on Wednesday.
According to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, 51 aftershocks have since been recorded, with the strongest registering a reported magnitude of 5.9. Emergency services remain on high alert as authorities assess structural damage and continue to monitor seismic activity across the region, with many residents staying in Istanbul's parks fearing potential afteshocks.
