Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday confirmed at least 2,229 homes in the Kharkiv region were destroyed in enemy shelling since Moscow launched its military operation in Ukraine.
"We will restore everything, rebuild it, fill it with life. In Kharkiv and in all other cities and villages where evil has come," he promised.
The city of Kharkiv and the nearby area has for months been the hotspot of the armed conflict, where clashes between Russian and Ukrainian troops have escalated the most.
