The Pakistani Foreign Affairs Ministry denied on Tuesday the involvement of its nationals as mercenaries in the war in Ukraine.
In a short statement on its website, the ministry "categorically rejected" the "baseless and unfounded allegations" made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, claiming that Pakistan "has not been formally approached by the Ukrainian authorities" regarding this matter. It also stated that Islamabad will seek clarification from Kiev, and that Pakistan "reaffirms its commitment to the peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict."
Zelensky took to his X profile on Monday and claimed that soldiers in the region of Vovchansk reported the "participation of mercenaries from China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and African countries" on the Russian side.
