Shai Gold, a spokesperson for Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, stated that the patient on board the crashed medevac plane was a child who had come to the United States for "life-saving treatment" and was on her way back to Mexico, NBC Philadelphia reported.
"The treatment ran its course. She was ready to go home, and we were contracted to bring her back home to Mexico," Gold said, adding that the cost of the flight was covered by an international charity.
The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that they and the US National Transportation Safety Board "will lead the investigation and will provide all the updates."
