Pelosi announces bill for free COVID-19 testing

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (pictured) introduced on Friday the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which would allow all United States citizens to get tested for the COVID-19 free of charge, even the people who are uninsured.

"We can only defeat this outbreak if we have an accurate determination of its scale and scope so that we can pursue a science-based response that is necessary," Pelosi said.

In addition to the free testing, the legislation would provide two weeks of paid medical leave for those infected by the virus and strengthen unemployment insurance for the people who lost their jobs during the pandemic.
