The United States Department of Defense (DoD) is planning to trim between 50,000 and 60,000 civilian jobs in the near future, the Associated Press (AP) reported on Tuesday.
According to a senior official familiar with the matter, the Pentagon is planning to dismiss about 6,000 people a month to hit the figure as a part of its plan to reduce its civilian staff by between 5% and 8% and, therefore, costs.
The layoffs will not include those who agree to take a voluntarily paid resignation introduced by President Donald Trump.
