Press Secretary for the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, stated Monday that the recently announced military exercises involving tactic nuclear weapons are a direct response to comments made by Western nations regarding Ukraine.

According to Peskov, statements from countries like France, Great Britain, and the United States require Russia's special attention and measures to ensure national security and regional stability.

In an early statement, the Ministry of Defense said President Vladimir Putin had instructed the General Staff to prepare military drills "with missile formations of the Southern Military District shortly."
