The military operation to secure the Kursk region has reached its concluding phase, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told TASS on Thursday, referencing Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to the region the day before.
At a Kursk command post, Putin received reports on the operation's final stage and ordered military leaders to "defeat Ukraine forces as soon as possible" and "ensure a security zone," calling Ukrainian and foreign fighters' actions "terrorist in nature."
First Deputy Minister of Defense General of the Army Valery Gerasimov reported that the Ukrainian military in the Kursk region has been "isolated" and is undergoing "systematic destruction." The large-scale offensive by the Kiev army in the region began on August 6, 2024, while Russia retorted with a massive counteroffensive over the past weekend.
