Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in an interview published on Monday that Iran is "capable enough of defending itself and its territorial integrity," when asked by American political commentator Tucker Carlson whether Iran expects help from Russia and China should the war take a broader scale.
"We don't want wars, we don't want to develop a nuclear weapon," Pezeshkian said, emphasizing that these claims are a "false image created in the minds of the United States officials and decision-makers, instigated by devilish machinations of Netanyahu and the Israeli regime."
The president warned that further escalation will only spread more instability in the Middle East, and that it is "not in the interest of the US president or the US government to move in that direction."
