Philippines Coast Guard spokesperson Jay Tarriela wrote on X on Sunday that the country's resupply vessels were "rammed" by China's ships.

"Unaizah Mae 1, and M/L Kalayaan [were] water cannoned by China Coast Guard. M/L Kalayaan suffered serious engine damage. Contrary to China Coast Guard disinformation, UM1 [was] rammed by CCG vessel."

Yesterday, China said it would implement control measures after the ships from the Philippines "intruded" the waters close to the Huangyan Island. Following the announcement, Manila accused Beijing of firing water cannons toward the ships and condemned the "high-seas assault."
